As you already know, I played football for Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute. The position I played as was Slot Back (Receiver). I started in grade nine and ten, which few people were able to say that they accomplished that in their rookie year. But this blog is not about my accomplishments during football, this is about how bad the defense was in grade ten.
First, let’s talk about the defensive coaches. This will only be one or two sentences long due to the fact that I don’t want to get in trouble for bad talking the coaches. Here we go: the defensive coaches always got mad because our offense DE-STROYED them almost every play we ran whilst scrimmaging during practices. The only time the defense stopped us, was when we messed the play up. The coaches hated our QB (quarterback) due to the fact that nobody could sack him (tackle the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage).
Next, we will talk about the players. We had only one good defensive player, our Safety. Even he didn’t have good tackling form (which on punts, I’m not able to break down and tackle so I shouldn’t really be talking, but it is what the defense are the best at sooo... they should be able to do it with ease), plus he wasn’t that fast. To make matters worse, if the opposing team kept running the same play, they continued to NOT stop it. Honestly, the defense should have been able to EASILY shut that play down once they notice the other team is using it constantly. Then there is the other teams using Full Back run, which our defense could not stop whatsoever because half of them were small and weak, and the others couldn’t tackle. DOES SOMEONE WANNA TELL ME HOW A FULL BACK RUNS FOR OVER 50 YARDS IN ONE PLAY?! WHERE IS THE GANG TACKLING AT?! My lord I hope our senior team next year will actually do something.
