One thing that the Entrepreneur, Michael, said that got me thinking was when he told me to ask a question. He said as he pointed at me, “How about you ask a question? I know you’re smart.” I responded by saying, “How do you know I am smart?” “Because you look smart,” was his answer. That got me thinking about what it is that makes me seem smart. To me, a smart person looks nothing like me. A smart person to me appears (as I think about it) as the stereotypical nerd, which is harsh, because nowadays, people are taught to not use stereotypes in this day and age. Although, I feel there are stereotypes for a reason, and that reason being that there is a seed of truth in those stereotypes. However controversial stereotypes can be, I am talking about the stereotypes that are not overly offensive to others. Such as how most intelligent people wear glasses constantly, or how intelligent people don’t play sports because they are not athletic. Even though I do wear glasses, I don’t wear them constantly and I am very athletic. But after Michael came in to talk to us, I was talking to my teacher about this blog, and she said that I may have looked smart due to the fact that intelligent people often appear bored while being talked to during a lesson or about the future. So when she told me this, I assumed that I looked bored, though it was unintentional. I was actually enjoying that day because Michael managed to put quite a bit of humor into what he was saying. What I guess I am trying to say is I don’t feel like my appearance shows that I am intelligent.
